Lophophora williamsii caespitosa is a clustering variety of peyote, a small spineless cactus that contains the psychedelic compound mescaline. Native to Southern Texas and Northern Mexico, these sacred cacti have been used by the indigenous peoples of North America in religious ceremonies for at least 5000 years.
Details:
- Clustering Variety: This variety of peyote multiplies, producing many new heads as it grows. Once mature, the heads will produce pretty pink flowers. These flowers yield small berries containing seeds.
- Legal Cultivation in Canada: Despite their psychoactive properties, peyote cacti are completely legal to own and cultivate in Canada.
- Age and Size: These cacti are approximately eight months old, about the size of a nickel, and are shipped bare root.
- Natural Variation: The number of pups (new heads) per cactus varies. Not all cacti of this age have pups, but they will develop them as they grow.
Care Recommendations:
For optimal growth, we recommend using our specialized Cactus Potting Kit and Schultz Cactus Fertilizer. For detailed potting instructions and information on proper care, please visit our Peyote Info Page.
Important Information:
- No Shipments to the USA: In accordance with US laws, we do not ship peyote cacti or seeds to the USA.
- For Ornamental Use Only: Our cacti are sold as ornamental plants only.
